The ingredients needed to make Dum Aloo:
  1. Prepare 6 small size Potato
  2. Get 1 Finely chopped Onion
  3. Prepare 1 Finely chopped Tomato
  4. Make ready 1 Green Chilli
  5. Make ready 3 tsp oil
  6. Get 1/2 bowl Fresh Malai/cream
  7. Make ready 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  8. Get 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  9. Make ready 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  10. Make ready 1 teaspoon kitchen king masala
  11. Take 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  12. Get to taste Salt
  13. Prepare FOR POTATO FILLING
  14. Make ready 50 gm Paneer
  15. Prepare 50 gm Green Peas
  16. Prepare 1 smalll Onion
  17. Take 1 small Tomato
  18. Prepare 1 Green chilli
  19. Get 8-9 raisin/kishmish

The baby potatoes are first deep fried, then cooked slowly at low flame in a gravy with spices. Aloo Dum is an exotic delicious main dish. Just the smell of aloo dum can make you hungry! To make this dish, potatoes are fried and then soaked in the spicy aromatic gravy.

Steps to make Dum Aloo:
  1. Chop onion, tomato, peas and green chilli in chopper. - Take a pan,heat 1tablespoon oil on medium flame. Add 1 teaspoon cumin seed. Now add chopped veg to it. Stir for 5 minutes then add crushed paneer. Stir fry for 2 minutes and turn off the flame,keep aside
  2. Now peel potatoes and hollow them. - Heat oil in a pan and fry all the potatoes till they turn golden brown. - Now fill them with the mixture.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a pan, add 1 tablespoon cumin seeds to it. - Add finely chopped onion, green chilli and salt. - Stir until it turns golden brown. - Add finely chopped tomato to it and Mix well
  4. Now add red chilli powder, coriander powder, Kitchen king masala(optional) and turmeric powder. - Stir and mix well on med flame.
  5. Now add small bowl of fresh malai in it and stir for 5 min. - Add required water and continue to boil until gravy thickens.
  6. Add pototoes and mix. - Cover pan with lid for 5 minutes. - Turn Off the flame and garnish with coriander leaves and fresh cream.

I wanted to try Dum Aloo recipe for so long,but never happened. Each time when I buy small potato,I end up in making other small potato recipes like small potato curry or small potato biryani. Dum Aloo translates to pressure(Dum) cooked Aloo. Whole Baby Potatoes are pressure cooked by Some people use Cashew gravy which can give Dum Aloo good taste, but then will result in Subzi.
