The ingredients needed to make Jangiri:
  1. Prepare 1 cup urad dal
  2. Make ready as required Orange or yellow colour powder
  3. Make ready as required Oil for frying
  4. Make ready For Sugar syrup–
  5. Prepare 1 cup sugar
  6. Get 1/4 cup water
  7. Get 3 tbsp lemon juice

I enjoyed making jangiris and was so happy that it turned out so amazing. Madhumitha is an Indian film actress who appears in Tamil language films. But mami my jangiri drink oil very much wat mistake.if I put in oil the jangiri also get double in size and soggy not crispy y mami. hi I tried the jangiri recipe. it was soft not crispy and also the sugar syrup. Jangiri is a sugar-coated flower-like sweet.

Instructions to make Jangiri:
  1. Soak urad dal for 2 hours and grind to a smooth batter by adding very little water. I added 1/4 cup of water. The batter should be smooth and fluffy. Add colour powder to the batter.
  2. In a vessel, add sugar and water and boil to form sugar syrup, the consistency is 1/2 string to one string consistency.
  3. In a kadai, add oil, when add the jangiri and fry. Then dip it in the sugar syrup. Jangiri is ready!!!

It has alternative names including Imarti, Amriti, Omriti In case of Jangiri, no fermentation is required. At one glance both may look same. I made it for last Diwali when my parents visited us and my Mom asked me to make it in a ziploc as i didn't have the Jangiri Cloth(Kada) with a hole in it. She got the name Jangiri because of her role in her first. Don't confuse Jangiri with Jalebi as these two are different from each other and have a completely distinct identity.
