- Prepare 1 bowl rice

I have tasted paneer pulao couple of times in restaurants which was less spicy with mild flavours, since then I wanted to recreate the version and this one came close to what I expected 🙂. Paneer Pulao is an exotic rice dish, super easy to make and tastes delicious. This is a great side dish for get-togethers. Paneer Pulao goes well with yogurt or soup.
Steps to make Paneer Pulao:
- Wash and Soak rice in water for 10 minutes. Transfer rice in pressure cooker. Add turmeric powder and salt and 1&1/2 bowl of water.
- Place the lid and pressure cook till 2 whistles. Switch off the flame and let pressure releases automatically.
- Cut pieces of paneer and deep fry till golden brown colour from both sides. Remove paneer from wok in a plate.
- Add cumin seeds in same wok and when cumin seeds splutter put black pepper seeds, cloves, cinnamom, cardamoms and Bay leaves. Saute for 30 seconds. Add chopped onion and stir fry.
- Fry onion till golden brown. Add cashew and almonds and stir fry till light golden. Now add grated tomato and sauté till oil leaves the sides of wok.
- Add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and pulav masala and mix. Add fried paneer and saute for 1 minute.
- Now add boiled rice and mix well and cook for 2 minutes till all masala is mixed thoroughly with rice.
- Serve paneer pulav with, pickle, salad or Raita. It is a famous north Indian one pot meal.
This is also a satisfying lunch box meal. The paneer pulao can be made with onions and garlic to give a flavourful aroma and taste; however The no-onion-no-garlic paneer pulao dish is simple and quick to make and is the perfect recipe to opt. I know I am going to post paneer pulao one day or the other. Once I tried a version in which I cook paneer together, but ended up in rubbery paneer. It will be soft until its cools down.
