After a lot of thought I decided to share " Moong dal kheer / Moong Dal Payasam " as it is one of the most common payasam made and devoured during It is simple to make , tastes divine and extremely nutritious. In Karanataka it is called as " Hesaru bele Payasa ". Though it is one of the most simplest. Poppy Seeds Payasam is a delicious kheer made with poppy seeds & coconut.
Steps to make Appe payasa / Poori ke kheer:
- Mix whole wheat flour, semolina and salt to a tight dough and keep to rest for 15-20 mins.. Take fine variety of semolina or else powder the regular semolina before use.
- Keep milk for boiling on medium heat. Meanwhile fry all the dry fruits in ghee and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a kadhai, roll out thin puris out of the dough and deep fry them on medium heat to make them crisp.
- After frying break the poories into pieces and add to the boiling milk, let it boil for a while till it becomes thick and all the poories have soaked nicely in milk.
- Add sugar and boil for 5-6 mins till all the mixture is combined well and is thick.. Put of the flame, add fried nuts and serve hot.
