  2. Wash them well and grind them together to a slightly coarse batter.
  3. Set the batter aside for 8-10 hours or overnight to ferment.
  4. Take ragi flour and add it to the batter. Mix well.
  5. Add one and half tsp salt to the batter and mix well.
  6. Now heat the Idli Steamer with enough water.
  7. Grease the idli plates with oil lightly. Fill the moulds with batter.
  8. When the water begins to bubble and steam up, place the stand in the steamer. Cover and steam for 10 minutes on a medium high flame.
  9. Remove the idli stand and set aside for 2-3 minutes to cool down. With the help of a spoon remove the idlis to a plate.
  10. Serve the delicious ragi idlis warm with tomato chutney/rasam or sambar.
