Upma is one of the most popular of recent trending foods in the world. It’s appreciated by millions daily. It’s easy, it is fast, it tastes yummy. They are fine and they look fantastic. Upma is something that I have loved my entire life.

To begin with this recipe, we have to prepare a few ingredients. You can have upma using 10 ingredients and 4 steps. Here is how you can achieve that.

The ingredients needed to make Upma:
  1. Get 200 grams semolina
  2. Take 1 onion
  3. Prepare 1 capsicum (green pepper)
  4. Prepare 1 tomato
  5. Prepare as required salt
  6. Take 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  7. Prepare 5 curry leaves
  8. Get 4 chopped green chilli
  9. Get 1/2 teaspoon urad daal / black lentil
  10. Take 5 teaspoon oil

Essentially, upma is a thick, porridge-like breakfast dish that is made from coarse rice flour or semolina that has been dry-roasted. Its extremely versatile, so don't be afraid to experiment with ingredients. Upma is one of the most common South Indian breakfast recipes, which is now popular all over India. rava upma is a quick preparation using common ingredients available in the Indian kitchen. Upma or Uppuma or Uppittu is a common South Indian and Sri Lankan Tamil breakfast dish, cooked as a thick porridge from dry roasted semolina or coarse rice flour.

Instructions to make Upma:
  1. Take a large pan, add oil in it and heat it over medium flame. When oil bubbles start to rise, add mustard seeds,chopped green chillies.Mix the ingredients well with a wooden spatula.
  2. Add urad dal in the pan. Toss the pan well to mix the ingredients well. Then add curry leaves and stir-fry for few minutes. Meanwhile, chop all the vegetables separately. Now add chopped onion, tomato, and capsicum in the pan and stir well.
  3. Add enough water in the pan and season well with salt. Cover the pan with a lid and cook over medium flame. Cook till the vegetables are cooked and a thick gravy is formed. Now, take a non-stick and roast semolina over medium flame for a minute or two.
  4. When vegetables are cooked, gradually add roasted semolina in little quantity, stir simultaneously. Keep stirring constantly and ensure there are no lumps formed. Cook for five minutes on a low flame and then transfer it to a serving bowl.

Various seasonings and/or vegetables are often added during the cooking, depending on individual preferences. Upma is a popular South Indian Breakfast dish.
