Appe are usually made with dosa batter(fermented rice batter) which is indeed a time consuming. Now add chopped cauliflower, peas, chopped. Semolina Appam/Appe and Curry leaves chutney are ready to eat! Semolina is a coarse flour made from durum wheat, a hard type of wheat.
Steps to make Semolina appe:
- First mix the yogurt,water and semolina (sooji).set aside.
- Chop all the veggies.
- Mix them in the sooji yogurt batter…season it with salt and pepper.
- Get the appe pan ready on flame.
- Pour very little oil in each cavity.
- At this stage add the baking soda to the batter and mix it thoroughly.
- Now put the mustard seeds in appe pan cavities. Let it splatter.
- Put equal amounts of batter in each cavity and let it cook for approx 3-4 mins.
- Turn them over and again cook for 3-4 mins until golden brown.
- Serve hot with tomato ketchup or sauce and chutney of your choice. Enjoy!!!
