It is now my go-to meal for busy week nights or a lazy sunday evening or on a day. Very simple and tasty guju food for lazy sundays.

The ingredients needed to make Gujrati kadhi and khichdi:
- Get for making kadhi
- Prepare 2 cups curd
- Prepare 4 tbsp besan (gram flour)
- Get 1 tsp cumin seeds
- Take 1 tsp mustard seeds
- Make ready 5-6 curry leaves
- Get 2 tbsp ghee
- Take 1 pinch asafoetida
- Take 1 tbsp ginger and chilli paste
- Prepare 1 tbsp sugar
- Prepare As per taste Salt
- Take some chopped coriander leaves for garnishing
- Prepare for making moongh khichdi
- Get 1 cup rice
- Take 1/2 cup yellow moong dal
- Prepare 4-5 peppercorns (kalimiri)
- Prepare As per taste Salt
- Take 1 tsp turmeric powder
- Prepare 2 tbsp ghee
At home we all love kadhi. Kadhis are excellent for summers as they are cooling. every region in India has their own way of making kadhis like Punjabi kadhi, Rajasthani. Serve the Gujarati kadhi hot with rotli, puran poli and khichdi. Gujarati kadhi (Gujarati: કઢી) is a Gujarati version of kadhi.
Instructions to make Gujrati kadhi and khichdi:
- Take a deep bowl combine curd and besan and whisk well without any lumps.Next add 3 cups of water and keep this aside.
- Next heat a kadhai or pan add ghee and add cumin seeds and mustard seeds let it splutter then add curry leaves, pinch of asofetedia and pour the kadhi keeping on low flame and add ginger and chilli paste,salt and sugar and mix well and keep on low flame for 10 minute let it simmer and then garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
- For making khichdi wash rice and moongh dal together and soak in water for atleast 20 to 30 minute and then pressure cook by adding water 3 cups and add turmeric powder, peppercorns, and salt and whistle for atleast 4 to 5 and if you want soupy khichdi you can add more water.
- Serve hot khichdi by adding some ghee with the kadhi side dishes you can serve any sabzi or with papad and achar.
