The ingredients needed to make Sambar Vada:
- Get 250 gms Urad dal
- Make ready 1 bowl Toor dal
- Get 2 tsp Coriander seeds
- Make ready 1 tsp Jeera
- Take 7-8 Methi dana
- Get 1/2 tsp Mustard seed (Rai)
- Take as needed Curry leaves
- Get 2 big onions sliced
- Make ready 1 big tomato cut into pieces
- Take 1 coconut for chutney
- Get 4 to 5 Red chillies-
- Get to taste Salt
- Get 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- Get 1 tbsp or to taste Tamarind pulp
Sambar vadai is urad dal vadai, soaked in mild and flavourful sambar. I recently only developed taste for After their chutneys, I like their sambar vada. I have it often but the best sambar vada here in. It is popular in South Indian and Sri Lankan cuisines.
Instructions to make Sambar Vada:
- Take 250gms urad dal and grind it in the mixer to make Vadas.
- Boil the toor dal in the cooker and add salt and turmeric powder to it.
- For sambar powder take 2tsp coriander seeds,1tsp jeera,7to8 seeds methi Dana,3 to 4 whole red chillies roast all ingredients without oil and grind it with a small piece of coconut
- And make a fine paste and add it in the boiled dal
- Toss the sliced onions and tomatoes in a pan and put it in the sambar
- Now for the sambar 's tadka heat 2tsp oil in The pan add hing,Rai,jeera whole red chillies and let it crackal and then put it in the sambar along with the tamarind pulp
- For coconut chutney -take 1 big coconut cut into small pieces add green chillies roasted chana dal,salt and grind well
- For chutney's tadka.heat oil in a pan add Rai,jeera,hing,curry leaves and let it crackal and then add it in the coconut chutney
- Put the sambar in the bowl and serve it with Vadas and chutney.
Sambar Vada - Crispy medhu vadas soaked in piping hot sambar topped with chopped onions and a drizzle of ghee makes this popular restaurant dish very appetizing. Sambar vadai is one my all time favorite, in fact i can say it is the entire family's favorite one. I have very fond memories associated with this vadai.
