Sambar is one of the most popular of recent trending meals on earth. It is simple, it’s fast, it tastes yummy. It is appreciated by millions every day. They’re fine and they look fantastic. Sambar is something which I’ve loved my whole life.

The ingredients needed to make Sambar:
- Take 200 gm arhar dal
- Prepare 1 big onion diced
- Make ready 1 slice pumpkin diced

Sambar is a traditional South Indian stew that goes well with idli, dosa, steamed rice or can be served as a soup. Any South Indian meal, be it breakfast, lunch or dinner, would be considered incomplete without Sambhar or one of its variants. Sambar, a hot and spicy lentil soup with mixed vegetables, is a must have accompaniment for popular South Indian breakfast and lunch recipes like Idli, Dosa, Medu Vada, Steamed Rice etc. A few years back Sambar used to be defined as South Indian delicacy, confined only to the Southern states of India.
Steps to make Sambar:
- In a kadai,heat the oil and put the mustard seeds curry leaves dry red chilli bay leaf and saute the ingredients.
- Boil the vegetables and the arhar dal seperately and then put the boiled ingredients in the kadai. Add salt to taste and tarmarind juice turmeric powder red chilli powder and the sambar powder to it. Simmer the gas. Let it cook for 3-5mins and the serve sambar dal with idlis.

I have used homemade sambar powder to make sambar recipe. But store-bought powder will work Wash and chop all the veggies you want to add to the sambar. I have used carrots, baingan (small.
