- In a non stick pan add oil and splutter mustard seeds followed by urad dal, red chili.To this add onion,green chilli,ginger,curry leaves tomato and salt and saute till onion becomes transparent and tomato is slightly mushy.
- Add in Rava and saute well in the masala. Add in water and bring it to boil.Stir continuously (to avoid any lumps) till it absorbs all the water.Simmer the flame, cover and cook for two to three minutes.
- Turn off the stove. Combine well. Lastly add grated coconut(it's optional). Stir well. Tasty tomato upma is ready to serve.
