Tempura with tentsuyu makes a delicious appetizer or quick. Keep the tempura warm in the oven, leaving the door slightly ajar so that they stay crisp. They are best served immediately on a warm plate with the sauce alongside for dipping. The traditional Japanese dipping sauce for shrimp or vegetable tempura.

- Mix the sauce ingredients all together in a bowl and set aside until needed.
- Beat the egg with the icy cold water until light and fluffy.

- Serve with the dipping sauce.

Optionally, provide grated fresh ginger and grated daikon to mix into sauce. Combine the dashi, soy sauce, and mirin in a small saucepan.
